I think the major power to overcome our struggles is within ourselves. But we can help each others as well.
Not by trying to solve a problem instead of somebody else, but just with being there and not making the situation even worse. We can all do this by showing a little more compassion.
This is a short guide for anybody who wants to help somebody else (or just if you’re dealing with a very sensitive person).
Words that can make a bad situation even worse
1. What you’re stressing about won’t even matter in a year.
2. Life’s too short to worry.
3. Calm down.
4. It’s no big deal.
5. It’s all in your head.
6. Let it go.
7. Things could be so much worse.
8. Be positive.
Sometimes is better to stay quiet and just be there, especially if you don’t know what to say. That’s ok too.
There is no universal rule that works with everybody. You can do best by observing other people’s reactions and learn from them.
I also came by an interesting article how can sometimes be beneficial to make people feel bad. Well, at the end of the day, it’s up to you, which path will you choose.
Oh and by the way, I’m not very good at this as well. Another thing I’ve failed too many times and I’m not proud of. This blog somehow became my own self-help tutorial with plenty of reminders. I really hope that helped some of you as well. I’m also grateful for all your feedback so far. It helped me a lot. Thanks, dear reader.
Do you have any experience of your own? What you really don’t like to hear from other people when you don’t feel so good?
